Spotlight on Recovery Magazine By Ian Manuel
Spotlight on Recovery Magazine has had tremendous impact on my life. The articles composed in each issue are uplifting and inspirational.
But not only that, I’ve found Spotlight Magazine to be very therapeutic for me because as a writer the topic and subject matter that the Founder and Publisher Robin Graham comes up with for articles has allowed me to dig deep into my memories, talent and pain and participate in my own healing process. By actively taking the initiative to share some of the trauma, I’ve experienced as an adolescent growing up in an adult prison. The magazine has allowed me to side step the shame of these experiences and shine an illuminating Spotlight on important issues like- juveniles serving life without parole sentences or juveniles in solitary confinement, both of which has since been stopped by President (Obama) and the U.S. Supreme Court.
However, there remains much more work to be done because for instance, the President’s order is only effective in Federal prison. That means that juveniles remain in solitary in State facilities around the country.
But for now I’d like to shine a Spotlight on this magnificent magazine and say thank you, and keep doing your thing.
Respectfully,
Ian Manuel
